Sonia ji - get well soon!

Mrs. Sonia R Gandhi, Leader of the United Progressive Alliance, President of the Indian National Congress, uncrowned Queen of India, and the most powerful Indian is sick. She has an undisclosed ailment that requires surgery on an unknown part of her body and in a un named hospital in an unidentified city in the United States of America. I wish her well. While, it is indeed an absurdity or contradiction that there are so many unspecified matters in the preceding sentence, all of what I have written is a fact. Please do think about this for a moment.    

This brings me to the point of my rants. I must warn you, that the rants should be read `severally’ as we lawyers say.

1.     Mrs. S R Gandhi is India’s most important political figure. She is more important than our head puppet Mr. Manmohan Singh who is our Prime Minister. As is obligatory, I must say at this point, that, the integrity, honesty and our respect for Mr. Singh is beyond question. Having said so I shall proceed. Mrs. S R Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka and son Rahul are probably the second and third most important political figures in India are with her in the USA as is Robert Vadra, Priyanka’s husband. All of them require extraordinary security which is provided to them by the Special Protection Group the executive protection agency of the Government of India. It is responsible for the protection of the Prime Minister of India, other top officials, and their immediate families. Obviously, Mrs S R Gandhi, her family and the attendant entourage flew to the USA, with pilots, air hostesses, ATC in a large aircraft. No one knows when they flew, how they flew and where they flew!! Astounding is it not?

2.     One of the biggest cry babies around is Prashant Bhushan. He created a real storm when he said that he would file an affidavit in the Supreme Court naming all the corrupt judges. I was happy hearing this, because, I thought that this would be a good way to bring out in the open the claimed corruption the in Supreme Court. This affidavit was the biggest damp squib I have seen in a long time. Just a litany of hyper technical, allegations that really hold no water. If I recall he also agitated that Judges should file affidavits disclosing their assets. This he claimed was in `public interest’. In fact, he claimed that the Nira Radia – Ratan Tata tapes should also be made public as they contained matters relating to the `2G Scam’ which was also in `public interest’. Applying this logic, please tell me why by the same yardstick, he is not asking for all details on Mrs. S R Gandhi to be made public? Beats me hollow. Or is he distracted in his moment of megalomania of propping up Anna Hazare? In other words he has bigger fish to fry.
